It was almost 5 PM on January 7th, 1970 when Finnish competition cross-country skiers Aarno Heinonen and Esko Viljo were out in a forest and decided to take a break and glimpse the emerging stars in the dusk twilight. Suddenly they saw a bright light in the northern sky approaching them, accompanied by a buzzing sound.
Heinonen recalled the encounter in his own words: 'The huge disk began to descend
as it was enveloped with the red gray fog, which became more thin and transparent. It
began to hover at a height of 10 to 13 ft, so near I could have touched it with
my ski stick. We saw it had a dome on the upper side. Along the lower edge
was a kind of raised part on which were three spheres or domes spaced equidistantly.
From the center of the bottom projected a tube approximately 10 inches
in diameter, from which there suddenly came an intense beam of light. Suddenly
I felt as if somebody had pulled me backward. In the same second I caught
sight of the creature. It was standing in the middle of the light beam
with a black box in it hands. It was about 3 ft tall, with very thin arms
and legs. Its face was like pale wax. The nose was a hook rather than a
nose. The ears were very small and narrowed toward the head.' The creature
wore 'some kind of overall in a light green material' and 'a conical helmet
shining like metal.'
The entity pointed the black box at Heinonen, and a blinding, pulsating yellow
light shone at him. A red mist came down over the area, and red, green,
and purple sparks showered around the skiers 'like tapers, about 4 inches
long' that 'floated out in long curves.' The mist became thicker
and thicker, until, said Viljo: 'Suddenly the beam melted, flew up like
a flickering flame, and was sucked into the gap in the craft. After that
it was as if the fog curtain was torn to pieces. The air above us was empty.'
After a few minutes Heinonen found that he could not use his right leg, which
had been nearest the strange light beam. Viljo half carried, half dragged
his friend home, about 2 miles away. Over the following months Heinonen
suffered severe memory losses, continuing pain, exhaustion, and headaches.
For two months his urine was like 'black coffee'. Viljo suffered facial
swelling, headaches and eye troubles.
Heinonen would claim, two years later, a series of contacts with a beautiful female spacewoman. At that time she told Heinonen that alien devices were implanted into his back and Viljo’s forehead during his 1970 encounter.
